It’s been quite a few weeks since Jasper and I have been on a new walk adventure, so this morning I bundled him in to the car and headed for Crathes Castle. I’ve been there countless times, but usually to the walled garden, the cafe or just a stroll around the castle itself, never round the forest walks. I really shouldn’t be surprised anymore, about how amazing these forest walks turn out to be! They keep getting better and better.

We did the red track, from west to east, and I almost stopped half way and just cut back down the main road that leads up to the castle, but boy am I glad I didn’t, as we ended up walking by the river, and along boardwalk across the river! The moment I hear flowing water, I’m won over! I love being near water. Throw in the added excitement of boardwalks over flooded marshes and I’m extra happy! Once again, discovering fantastic locations for photo shoots…just need to get the website up and running and get word out there that I am taking bookings again…maybe this week!

It’s funny how some days I do absolutely nothing and wonder what I’m going to take a photo of, and other days I do loads and completely forget to take a photo…this photo was taken around 8pm, on a catch up date with some of my College Girlies. We had a delicious dinner and then a delicious, decaf, beverage at Starbucks for dessert! Wild Monday night!

It always blows my mind when months go by between our catch ups, but it only feels like it’s been a few weeks since we last saw each other. Time is moving crazy fast! I’m very thankful for these friendships. I remember being so nervous to go to College…10 years (that can’t be right…surely it’s not been 10 years??) ago, worried I wouldn’t make any friends, because I wasn’t a party girl and much preferred drinking tea and eating a slice of cake, or two, that’s as wild as I got. It was most definitely an answer to prayer when I became friends with 4 lovely ladies, who also liked cake!

We had a very chilled Saturday night, consisting of Indian Takeaway and GTA 5 with Iain, and then binge watching the final episodes of Stranger Things Season 1 when Iain headed back to his ship. It was a good night!

I have been majorly slacking this week, apologies! Time to catch up…

Monday was a miserably wet day! Once again, one of the joys of having a dog means you have to go out in any kind of weather, so off we went to the park. Jasper, of course, had the time of his life, chasing his ball, turning in to a wet mop the more he ran, and the wetter he gets the more wild he gets, and doesn’t want to go home! One lap of the park was enough for me though.

Retired Free Church Minister, Alex Macdonald, and his band put on a concert at our church on Saturday night to raise money for Aberdeen YMCA. After a day of slobbing on the sofa, due to cancelled plans, it was great to get out of the flat and enjoy some live music!

Today was an old school classics baking day! Although, the flapjacks had a slight twist to them, as I had bananas that needed used up so they’re more healthy than the flapjacks Mum used to make when I was younger, and therefore…not as good! The truffles however are as fantastic as ever. So simple, but so delicious! I might go grab one right now…

We kept our trip to Glasgow quiet as we were attending Matthew’s cousin, Alison’s, Surprise 30th Birthday at The Corinthian Club on Saturday night. She was most definitely happily surprised! It was such a wonderful night, filled with happy faces, laughter, chatting, dancing, delicious food, cake and lots and lots of jelly beans! I was debating whether I could just tip the whole jar of jelly beans in to the various pockets of my camera bag…I’m impressed to say that I managed to resist doing that, but also a little sad…I’d love some jelly beans right now!

Happy Birthday, Ali! In honour of you, I’m watching Harry Potter as I type this.

I was very excited to see this bottle of bath soak when we arrived at our Airbnb on Friday night. I’m quite the bath enthusiast, and the only thing wrong with our flat is it doesn’t have a bath, so I take every chance I get at soaking in the warm, bubbly goodness when we’re away.

We’ve become big fans of Airbnb this past year. It can be a cheaper and more homely alternative to staying in a hotel if you’re going on an adventure! We loved having our own wee flat in the middle of Merchant City in Glasgow for the weekend. It was only a few minutes walk from friends we were visiting and the venue we were going to for a surprise birthday on Saturday night, and it had a bath! So perfect!

I love these new trousers I got from Marks & Spencers last Saturday! They’re jogger material, so they’re super comfy, but they have a checked pattern, so they look smart. They’re amazing! I feel like I’m leaving the house in my pyjamas when I wear them, and I’m okay with that. They have an elasticated waist with a cord string to tighten them, and they have pockets! I’m never wearing jeans again.

I decided I wanted to make a delicious quinoa salad for my lunches at this start of the week, I wish I could say I was successful. It certainly looks good (albeit a little on the yellow side) in the photo, but this is a prime example of how looks can be deceiving! I actually feel a little sick looking at this photo now…I should really have tried the dressing before mixing it in! It was super vinegary and lemony…bleugh. Far too strong! I ate it for lunch and again at dinner, but when I tried it again the next day I couldn’t take it any more and the rest of the bowl got chucked. I hate wasting food, but there was no way I was going to be able to eat it. I tried adding salt to counteract the acidity, but that didn’t work. Maybe I should just have thrown it all in a sieve and rinsed it? Tips would be greatly appreciated! But I think in future I’ll just try the dressing before pouring it on top…
