Ladies and Gentlemen, my husband, Clootie Dumpling Extraordinaire, taking the first bite! For weeks he’s been wanting to make his Gran’s secret family recipe Duff, and to be completely honest it didn’t appeal to me one bit; I’m not a fan of fruit cake, or cake with a skin after 3 hours of boiling, so I didn’t share his enthusiasm. However, I’m not ashamed to admit, I was wrong. As long as I don’t look at the cake as a whole, and the skin is removed, it’s very delicious!
It was a tough call deciding what today’s photo was going to be, what with two incredibly exciting things happening in one day; Matthew’s first attempt at Duff, and my first attempt at Settlers of Catan! But of course I couldn’t pass up the chance to have Matthew on the blog with that apron on. So congratulations to Matthew for successfully carrying on the family tradition, we’re all very proud and perhaps this is the start of something wonderful…#matthewbakes.
